Handmade Cinnamon Christmas Ornaments

DIY Cinnamon Ornaments
We used a small cup to cut our circles, and these Christmas foam stamps to make our designs

Our 13 year old daughter had a blast making these ornaments with her friends this afternoon. And they smell wonderful!! 

You will need:

1 cup ground cinnamon

3 cups all-purpose flour

2 cups sea salt

2 cups water

1-2 tablespoons olive oil

parchment paper

straw

cookie cutters/stamps

ribbon or string

Steps to make:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all dry ingredients. Gradually add water and oil while continuously stirring. Batter will be thick, so knead with hands 
  2. Cover and cool in refrigerator for 1.5 hours 
  3. Preheat oven to 250 degrees
  4. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters, stamps, or whatever you like to create your ornament designs
  5. Place a small hole at the top of each ornament with straw
  6. Place ornaments on baking pan lined with parchment paper and bake for 1 hour
  7. Remove from oven and carefully turn ornaments over, and place back in oven for 1 hour to be sure ornaments are very firm
  8. Set aside to cool, then add ribbon and hang on tree

TIP: We used a very coarse sea salt and it added a little character
